About the Opportunity

Tranquim Auto Electrics Pty Ltd is currently seeking an experienced Auto Electrician to join our workshop located at our Derrimut Branch. Our business provides Auto Electrical, Mechanical and Air-Conditioning on and off-site support to the Waste Management, Haulage, Construction and Earth-Moving Industry.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this position, you will be required to have:

  • Trade qualifications as an Auto Electrician;

  • Excellent diagnostic/fault finding, communication and written skills;

  • Must have Manual Driver’s Licence;

  • Must have Heavy Vehicle Manual Driver’s Licence (HR) or willingness to get HR licence;

  • Hold a current Air Conditioning Ticket;

  • Strong work ethic with a “can-do attitude” and a willingness to contribute to the company’s entrepreneurial work culture;

  • Able to work well in a high performing team environment and have a methodical approach to problem solving.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Install, maintain, and identify faults and repair electrical wiring and computer-based equipment in motor vehicles and related equipment, such as waste and haulage trucks, caravans, trailers, earthmoving equipment and mining equipment.

Core tasks include (but not limited to):

  • work with computer-controlled engine management systems;

  • service, identify and repair faults on electronically controlled vehicle systems such as electronic fuel injection, electronic ignition, anti-lock braking, cruise control, automatic transmission, airbags and air conditioning;

  • install electrical equipment such as gauges, lighting, alternators and starter motors in vehicles;

  • install electrically operated accessories such as radios, heating or demisting equipment, air conditioners, driving lamps and anti-theft systems;

  • refer to circuit diagrams, and use meters and test instruments to find electrical faults;

  • adjust engine control systems and timing to ensure vehicles are running at peak performance;

  • test, recondition and replace faulty alternators, generators, starter motors and related items such as voltage regulators and batteries;

  • repair or replace faulty ignition, electrical wiring, fuses, lamps and switches;

  • use hand tools, specialized electrical tools, instruments and machines, including drills, grinders, presses, welding equipment etc;

  • solder or weld when repairing electrical parts;

  • install, repair and service air conditioning systems.

About the Opportunity

Tranquim Auto Electrics Pty Ltd is currently seeking an experienced Field-Service Heavy Diesel Mechanic with a minimum of two years trade experience to join our team located at our Derrimut Branch.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this position, you will be required to have:

  • Trade qualifications as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic

  • Minimum two years of trade experience

  • Hold a Light and Heavy Vehicle Driver’s Licence

  • Have good communication and writing skills

  • Be prepared to work early or late shifts

  • Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills

  • Strong work ethic with a “can-do attitude” and a willingness to contribute to the company’s entrepreneurial work culture

  • Able to work well in a team environment

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • diagnose problems from electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics;

  • access on-board self-diagnostic systems in the engine control unit (ECU) and central processing unit (CPU) and interpret test procedures and results;

  • comply with all documented WH&S policies, procedures, work instructions and verbal instructions issued by Clients, Managers and Supervisors;

  • correctly use and maintain all personal protective clothing and equipment;

  • carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant, equipment, machinery and vehicles as directed;

  • perform routine duties in accordance with established and documented processes as required;

  • diagnose faults in machinery/vehicle systems and rectify;

  • plan work so that it is done efficiently and in accordance with industry standards;

  • a proven commitment to workplace Health & Safety;

  • ability to operate Service Information Computer Systems;

  • undertake other duties which are relevant to the position as requested;

  • be willing to be available to attend out of hour’s breakdowns and vehicle retrievals, if required.
